New to LIFX?
Set up the bulb first
Make sure you have a LIFX color bulb to get started. You’ll set it up in the LIFX app, then connect it to Kwietly.

Rename your status light

Open the LIFX app and tap the group where your light is located.

Tap the three dots, then tap Light Settings under Light Options.

Update the Device Name to Kwietly.

This tells Kwietly which bulb to control.

Make sure your bulb is ready

Turn your LIFX color bulb on and confirm it shows online in the LIFX app.

Place your status light where your child is most likely to see it — outside your office, near your desk, in a hallway, or in a shared family space. Every home is different. The goal is simple: the light should be visible before your child interrupts.

Kwietly can only control your bulb when it is powered on, connected to Wi-Fi, and working inside the LIFX app.

Create your LIFX access token

On any browser, go to cloud.lifx.com and sign in with the same LIFX account connected to your bulb.

Click your email address in the top right corner, then open Personal Access Tokens.

Create a new token and name it Kwietly so it’s easy to recognize later. Copy the token before leaving the page.

You may only see this token once. If you lose it, you can create a new one and update it in Kwietly.

Open My Kwietly and paste your token
Open My Kwietly, paste your LIFX access token, and save the connection. Then tap red, amber, and green to test your status light.

Set up your LIFX color bulb

Screw in your LIFX color bulb and turn the lamp or light switch on.

Place your status light where your child is most likely to see it — outside your office, near your desk, in a hallway, or in a shared family space.

Download the free LIFX app
Download the LIFX app on your phone or tablet. You only need this for the initial bulb setup.

Create your LIFX account and add your bulb

Open the LIFX app, create a free account, and follow the prompts to add your bulb to your home Wi-Fi.

When naming your bulb, use Kwietly as the Device Name.

A few things that help setup go smoothly: say yes to Location and Bluetooth when the app asks, connect to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network if prompted, and have your Wi-Fi password ready.

Confirm the bulb works in LIFX first

Before moving to Kwietly, make sure your bulb shows online in the LIFX app.

Try changing the bulb color inside the LIFX app.

If the bulb does not work in LIFX yet, it will not work in Kwietly yet.

One thing before your first work session

Sit down with your child and show them what each color means. Red means wait unless it is an emergency. Amber means you can knock or check in. Green means come on in. Keep it simple, let them ask questions, and remind them that if something is really wrong, they can always come to you no matter what color the light shows.

Having trouble connecting?

Start with LIFX first. Make sure the bulb is powered on, connected to Wi-Fi, named Kwietly, and showing online in the LIFX app. If the bulb works in LIFX but not in Kwietly, check that your token was copied correctly with no extra spaces before or after it.
