Terms of Use & Safety Agreement

Kwietly is a simple household communication tool. These terms explain how it should be used, what it does, and what it does not replace.

Plain-English note: Kwietly helps a status light communicate whether a parent is available, working, or needs quiet time. It is not childcare, supervision, monitoring, or an emergency system.

What Kwietly Does

Kwietly helps you control a connected LIFX color bulb as a visual status light for your home.


Red: Do not disturb.

Amber: Working / okay to knock.

Green: Come on in.

Kwietly is meant to support communication inside your home. It does not replace conversation, supervision, household rules, emergency judgment, or parental responsibility.

Kwietly Is Not Childcare or Supervision

Kwietly is not a childcare product, monitoring system, baby monitor, safety device, emergency alert system, or substitute for adult supervision.

A parent, guardian, or responsible adult is always responsible for supervising children as appropriate, deciding whether Kwietly is suitable for their household, teaching children what each light color means, and making sure children understand that emergencies always override the light.

Emergencies always override the light. If there is an emergency, urgent need, safety issue, injury, illness, or other serious concern, household members should ignore the light and get help immediately.

Household Setup and Use

You are responsible for setting up and using Kwietly in a way that works for your home.

This includes creating and maintaining your Kwietly account, purchasing and setting up a compatible LIFX color bulb, connecting the bulb to your Wi-Fi network, keeping the bulb powered on and available, naming the bulb “Kwietly” in the LIFX app, explaining the light system to your household, and deciding when and how to use each light color.

Kwietly’s Phase 1 product is designed for one purchase, one customer account, one LIFX color bulb, and one status light named “Kwietly.”

LIFX Bulb, Network, and Third-Party Services

Kwietly works with LIFX through LIFX’s available tools and services. Kwietly does not manufacture, sell, control, or guarantee LIFX bulbs, LIFX accounts, LIFX apps, LIFX services, Wi-Fi networks, internet connections, routers, mobile devices, browsers, or other third-party systems.

Kwietly may not work properly if your LIFX bulb is offline, your bulb is not named “Kwietly,” your internet or Wi-Fi connection is down, LIFX services are unavailable or delayed, your LIFX access token is missing or incorrect, or LIFX changes, limits, suspends, or discontinues access to its services or API.

You are responsible for your LIFX account, LIFX setup, LIFX access token, bulb availability, Wi-Fi, internet access, and device compatibility.

No Affiliation With LIFX

Kwietly is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, approved by, or partnered with LIFX, Feit Electric Company, Inc., or any related company.

LIFX names, products, services, and marks belong to their respective owners.

Access Token and Account Responsibility

To use Kwietly with your bulb, you may need to provide a LIFX access token. You are responsible for obtaining that token from your own LIFX account and making sure you are authorized to use it.

You should not share your Kwietly login or LIFX access token with anyone you do not trust.

Kwietly is designed to control the bulb you have named “Kwietly.” You are responsible for making sure the correct bulb is named and connected before using the app.

Availability and Limitations

Kwietly is provided as a simple app-based communication tool. We aim to keep the service useful and available, but we do not guarantee that Kwietly will be uninterrupted, error-free, delay-free, or available at all times.

The light status may fail, delay, display incorrectly, or not update for reasons outside of Kwietly’s control, including third-party service issues, network problems, power loss, device errors, user setup issues, or changes made by LIFX or other providers.

Because of this, Kwietly should not be relied on for urgent, safety-critical, medical, emergency, or supervision-related decisions.

Parent and Guardian Responsibility

By using Kwietly in a home with children, you acknowledge and agree that the parent, guardian, or responsible adult remains fully responsible for the child’s care, safety, supervision, and understanding of the system.

You agree to explain clearly that the light is a communication helper, the light does not replace asking for help, emergencies always override the light, and a child should interrupt when they feel unsafe, sick, scared, hurt, or truly need help.

Purchases, Digital Access, and Refunds

Kwietly Phase 1 is sold as a one-time app access purchase unless otherwise stated at checkout.

Because Kwietly is a digital app-access product, purchases are generally final once access is provided.

Before purchasing, please make sure you have a compatible LIFX color bulb, a working LIFX account, and Wi-Fi/internet access. During setup, you’ll need to name the bulb “Kwietly.”

If something is not working as expected, contact us at hello@kwietly.app. We’ll do our best to help you troubleshoot setup or access issues.

We may update, improve, modify, or discontinue parts of the service over time.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse Kwietly, interfere with the service, attempt unauthorized access, reverse engineer the app, use Kwietly for unlawful purposes, or use it in a way that could harm the service, other users, third-party systems, or connected devices.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kwietly and its owners, operators, contractors, and affiliates are not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or similar damages arising from your use of or inability to use Kwietly.

This includes, but is not limited to, issues related to missed interruptions, household misunderstandings, device failure, bulb failure, LIFX service issues, internet outages, setup errors, child supervision, emergencies, or reliance on the light as anything other than a communication tool.

Your use of Kwietly is at your own discretion and responsibility.

No Warranties

Kwietly is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not make warranties that the service will always work, meet every household’s needs, be compatible with every setup, or operate without interruption or error.

Changes to These Terms

Continued use of Kwietly after updated terms are posted means you accept the updated terms.

Older versions of our Terms, if available, can be viewed in our Legal Archive.
